What we built
OPNBasket is a decentralized Cost-of-Living Index oracle built on OPN Chain.
Users from different countries can submit real local prices of everyday goods (bread, milk, eggs, etc.), and the community verifies them through a simple consensus mechanism (3 matching votes = accepted).
All price observations are stored transparently on-chain in the OPNBasketOracle smart contract.
Why
Traditional CPI indices are often outdated, slow, or politically influenced. OPNBasket creates a real-time, transparent, and permissionless cost-of-living index from actual people on the ground.
This infrastructure is essential for the next generation of DeFi — enabling location-aware lending, localized stablecoins, fair DAO grants, and social payments based on real local prices.
How it works
- Submit — Anyone submits a local price with item, country, and optional receipt
- Verify — Community members vote on submissions (minimum 3 votes to accept)
- Index — Verified observations are added to the global Cost-of-Living Index
- On-chain — All data is publicly available via smart contract
