What We Built

A dead-simple escrow contract for OPN Chain. Buyer creates a deal, deposits OPN, seller does their thing off-chain, then buyer either releases funds to seller or refunds to themselves. Two functions, no middlemen.

The whole contract is under 100 lines. No oracles, no admin keys, no proxy patterns. You send money in, someone gets it out. That's the entire product.

Why

Peer-to-peer trades on-chain are annoying without escrow. Either you trust the other party (risky) or you deploy some complex multisig (overkill). Sometimes you just need "hold this money until I say it's good."

OPN Chain has the speed and cheap gas for this to actually make sense — sub-second finality means escrow deals settle instantly, not in 12-second blocks like mainnet.

How It Works

  • Create a deal: Call createDeal(seller) with OPN value. Funds lock in the contract, deal is live.
  • Release: Buyer calls release(dealId) — funds go straight to seller. Done.
  • Refund: Buyer calls refund(dealId) — funds come back. No dispute resolution, kept simple on purpose.

The buyer controls both release and refund. Seller trusts the buyer to be honest — same as a traditional escrow where the buyer holds the power. Works great for freelance payments, OTC trades, or any "I'll pay you when it's done" scenario.

Roadmap

02/03

What ships next.

The builder's own next-quarter plan. Use it to gauge follow-through and ambition.

Q3 2026 (Now)

  • Deploy Escrow contract to OPN Testnet ✅
  • Launch frontend dApp with MetaMask support ✅
  • Verify contract source on OPN explorer
  • Get initial usage from OPN community Discord

Q4 2026

  • Add timeout/auto-refund: deal expires after X days if buyer doesn't act (protects seller)
  • Multi-token escrow: support ERC-20 tokens, not just native OPN
  • Partial release: buyer can release funds in stages (milestone-based)
  • Submit for audit

Q1 2027

  • Escrow v2: optional arbiter role for dispute resolution
  • SDK for other OPN builders to embed escrow into their apps
  • Integrate with OPN DEX for instant token swaps at release time

Beyond

  • Cross-chain escrow using OPN bridge
  • Reputation system: track successful deals per address
  • Fiat off-ramp at release point

On-chain proof

03/03

1 contract on OPN Chain.

The chain itself confirmed every deployment is valid, signed by the builder's wallet, and inside the season's window.
